The last couple years have flown by in a flash.

I have recently completed the knitting portion of Gleði which I intend to take with me on **our honeymoon** trip to Italy this coming September. The finishing portion should be fairly quick.

I have no idea why the Husbeast(c) decided that we needed a honeymoon at this late date, but I'm not silly enough to refuse a trip to Italy.  Any trip of this type deserves a wardrobe equal to it, also known as "hey look, an excuse to knit something new". And so I have queued a few patterns to match some available yarns and projects that have been circling in the WIP pile for some time.

Gleði is knit using two strands of Plötulopi, which is a yarn I love to work with, since I finally learned how to tension it properly. It's unspun and the slightest over tensioning causes it to fly apart. But, properly managed, it creates a garment of exception warmth and lightness. I admit that I knit many pieces with it resulting in tears and cursing before I finally leaned the trick. I am already planning my next project which will use up some small amount of the leftovers from Gleði.

My next project will be a French pattern, where we will discover whether or not I can still remember how to read French patterns.  I found my old 'learn to knit' book in French and read through it to refresh the terminology and I have no fear. I shall manage, without tears, or I will not, but either way a new sweater will appear.

In weaving news I am currently weaving shoe laces. No idea why except it seemed like a good idea at the time.

I have also been weaving fabric for a coat.  The pattern I am making has borders for the front facings and hems, which is complete.  I have yet to start the body of the coat fabric as I simply can't decide what color to use. So many delightful options.
